Mini Sumobot

Project type

Robotics

My journey into robotics has been driven by a real passion for tech and a constant urge to see what I can build when I push myself. One of the projects I’m most proud of is my mini sumo bot, which I built for the Siemens Energy Robotics Competition. I started with a Parallax sumo bot as the base and focused heavily on coding and strategy. After competing against a bunch of really skilled teams, I earned 3rd place.

What made this project exciting was that it wasn’t just about the hardware, it was about how smart I could make the bot. I wrote all the code in C++, optimizing the sensors, refining the motor response, and building fast-reacting strategies that let the bot make quick decisions in the ring. Every match was a learning experience, and the end result showed how much of a difference good logic and smart design can make.

After the competition, I kept working on the idea and built an even better version of the bot, just for fun and to see how far I could take it. I’m keeping it ready in case another challenge comes up, but honestly, a lot of the joy came from just improving on something I was already proud of.
